Hardy is a small Ozarks river town with a walkable Main Street, half-a-dozen antique shops, and one of the prettiest float rivers in Arkansas. You can fill three days here without driving more than four blocks.
Spring-fed and cold year-round — comes out of Mammoth Spring at 58 degrees and stays clear and steady all summer. Class I-II current, friendly for kids, lively enough to be fun.
Float-trip outfitters run the river from May through September. Trout fishing is a draw from fall through spring. Public swimming spots and gravel-bar campsites are a short drive in either direction.
An honest small-town Main Street: antique stores, craft shops, a leather shop, a clock museum, a small art gallery, and a few cafes. You can walk the whole thing in an hour, or lose an afternoon to it.

McDonald's is across the street from the lodge if you need something quick and predictable.
